Robert Morris adding NCAA Division I men's wrestling program

Robert Morris University is adding NCAA Division I men's wrestling as its newest varsity sport, the school announced. The program is expected to begin competition in the 2027-28 academic year and will become RMU's 20th sport.

Additional details regarding the inaugural season, coaching staff, competition schedule and home venue will be announced as plans are finalized. The program's conference affiliation has not yet been determined.

The addition gives Western Pennsylvania another Division I wrestling program in a region with a deep wrestling tradition built by youth clubs, high school programs and collegiate programs. RMU's move into wrestling reflects the university's continued investment in Division I athletics and creates another opportunity for student-athletes in the region to compete at the highest level while pursuing a college degree.
