Brooke Huffman, the nation's top-ranked wrestler at 190 pounds, has committed to Iowa women's wrestling.

Huffman, a senior at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School in Wisconsin, announced her commitment Tuesday. She becomes the third member of Iowa's Class of 2027 recruiting class, joining Eve Skrocki and Larra Mullin. All three were part of Iowa's large official-visit weekend earlier this month.

One of the nation's premier upper-weight recruits, Huffman has held the No. 1 national ranking at 190 pounds for nearly all of the past two seasons. She reinforced that status at the 2026 Junior Nationals, earning a technical fall or pin in all six matches on her way to the title without a single match lasting beyond the first period. Huffman is also a two-time Fargo champion, a three-time undefeated Wisconsin state champion and won back-to-back USA Wrestling National High School Recruiting Showcase titles in 2025 and 2026, pinning her way through both tournaments.

She has already competed against college-level competition with considerable success, placing third at the 2024 Soldier Salute and third at the 2025 Midlands Championships. Her only losses at the Soldier Salute came against Iowa wrestlers Kylie Welker and Naomi Simon.

Huffman projects as a future option for the Hawkeyes at either 180 or 207 pounds. Her arrival comes as Iowa transitions at the upper weights, with three-time national champion Welker set to exhaust her eligibility before the 2027-28 season.

Huffman continues a strong recruiting pipeline between Iowa and Wisconsin that has also produced Hawkeyes Welker, Macey Kilty, Carley Ceshker and Taylor Whiting. With her commitment, Iowa's 2027 class now features the nation's No. 1-ranked wrestler at 190 pounds alongside Skrocki and Mullin.
