John Hangey has been named deputy athletic director at Rider University, taking on expanded responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the athletics department.

In his new role, Hangey will work closely with Christine Brown & Partners, the firm supporting Rider with leadership consultation, operational assessment and strategic planning as the university evaluates the department and its needs. To focus fully on those responsibilities, Hangey will temporarily step away from his duties as wrestling head coach.

Associate head coach Nic Bedelyon will lead the wrestling program in Hangey's absence, with support from assistant coaches Doug Umbehauer and Tyler Klinsky.

Liz Sapudar has also been named interim senior woman administrator for athletics, taking on the additional leadership responsibility while continuing in her current role as academic coordinator for athletics.
