Fort Hays State adds national finalist Alejandro
Fort Hays State women's wrestling has added graduate transfer Jenavi Alejandro for the 2026-27 season, bringing in one of the more accomplished wrestlers available in the transfer market this offseason.
Alejandro, a Las Vegas native, graduated from Tiffin University this spring and joins Fort Hays State with one season of eligibility remaining. She competed at 110 pounds this past season and entered the NCAA postseason undefeated before an injury default forced her out of the NCAA Women's Region IV tournament, ending her run at Tiffin on a difficult note despite a dominant regular season.
A two-time college All-American, Alejandro finished as the NCWWC national runner-up at 101 pounds in 2023 before placing eighth at the national tournament in 2024 at 109 pounds. Her college resume follows an accomplished amateur career that included four Fargo freestyle All-America honors and three state championships coming out of Centennial High School in Las Vegas. She took second at the national girls meet in 2021 while wrestling for Centennial, and became the first girl to medal at the Nevada state tournament, a breakthrough that made her one of the state's most decorated prep wrestlers regardless of gender.
Alejandro joins a Fort Hays State program that has climbed quickly since adding women's wrestling as its 17th varsity sport in 2022 under head coach Alijah Jeffery. The Tigers are coming off a 19th-place finish at the inaugural NCAA Women's Wrestling Championships. Isabella Renfro became the program's first-ever NCAA All-American, placing fourth at 180 pounds.
