Edinboro adds Fechko as assistant wrestling coach

Edinboro men's wrestling has hired Craig "Boomer" Fechko as assistant coach, head coach Matt Hill announced Monday.

Fechko joins the Scots after serving as associate head coach at John Carroll in 2025-26. Prior to that, he spent three seasons as head coach at Lake Erie College before returning to the assistant coach ranks.

Fechko has extensive MAC experience. He served as associate head coach at Buffalo in 2017-18 after two seasons as an assistant with the Bulls, where he worked as recruiting coordinator and academic liaison. During his time at Buffalo, he helped the program's 133-pounder become just the fifth wrestler in school history to qualify for the NCAA Championships three times. He also spent a season as a volunteer assistant at Bloomsburg, where the Huskies sent six wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.

From 2018-21, Fechko was an assistant at Cleveland State, where he helped the Vikings produce two MAC finalists, three national qualifiers and the third-highest team GPA in the country -- the highest in program history -- during the 2020-21 season. That year he also recruited a Senior National champion, a state champion and two nationally ranked wrestlers. In 2019-20, CSU placed seven wrestlers at the MAC Championships and finished in the top half of the team standings after being picked last in the preseason coaches' rankings.
