Prescott resigns as Central Methodist head women's wrestling coach
Tim Prescott has resigned as head women's wrestling coach at Central Methodist University after two seasons leading the Eagles program, he announced Monday on social media.
Prescott cited a desire to spend more time with his family following significant life changes over the past two years, including his son's diagnosis. He will join Home Medical Equipment at Mayo Clinic in Mankato, Minnesota.
"After a lot of thought and prayer, I have made the decision to step down as Head Women's Wrestling Coach at Central Methodist University," Prescott wrote. "The last two years have changed my life in ways I never could have expected. Since my son's diagnosis, I have not been able to truly slow down, and my priorities have shifted. Right now, I need more time, more presence, and more balance with what matters most, my family. I loved every moment of coaching. I am thankful for every athlete I had the privilege to coach, every staff member I worked beside, every supporter of our program, and every memory made along the way. This is not a goodbye, but rather a see you later."
Prescott was hired at Central Methodist in June 2024. During his two seasons, the Eagles finished 27th at the NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships in both 2025 and 2026, qualified five wrestlers for the national tournament this past season and placed fourth at the Heart Championships.
Before arriving in Fayette, Prescott served as head women's wrestling coach at Friends University in Wichita, Kan., where he guided the Falcons to top-30 finishes at the NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships in each of his two seasons, placing 26th in 2022 and improving to 23rd in 2023. He coached the program's first two national qualifiers in 2022 and developed Friends' first NAIA All-American in 2023. Prior to Friends, Prescott spent two seasons as head men's wrestling coach and director of wrestling at Central Christian College in McPherson, Kan., where he established the school's first dedicated wrestling facility and coached three KCAC/SAC placewinners. He also served as an assistant at Cornell College and as a graduate assistant at Northern State University, where he earned a master's degree in sport performance and leadership in 2019.
As a competitor, Prescott was one of the best wrestlers of his era at the lower college levels. He began at Neosho County Community College, where he became a two-time NJCAA All-American, before transferring to St. Cloud State and winning the 125-pound NCAA Division II national championship in 2015. He served as a team captain for the Huskies, helped lead St. Cloud State to back-to-back Division II national team titles in 2015 and 2016, was named the NSIC Wrestler of the Year in 2015 and earned three Academic All-American honors. He graduated from St. Cloud State with a bachelor's degree in liberal studies in 2017.
Central Methodist will begin a search for Prescott's successor as the Eagles prepare for the 2026-27 season.
