Wilcke added to ISU women's wrestling staff
Iowa State has added Cash Wilcke to its women's wrestling staff as director of operations and assistant coach, head coach Alli St. John announced Tuesday. Wilcke arrives in Ames after three seasons as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at William Penn.
Wilcke is the second addition to St. John's staff, with another assistant coach hire expected by January 2027. In his role, he will oversee day-to-day operations and travel logistics while also contributing on the coaching side.
At William Penn, Wilcke worked alongside former head coach and current Iowa State assistant Jake Kadel, helping guide the women's program to three consecutive top-five finishes at the NAIA National Championships. The team improved significantly during his tenure, rising from a 33rd-place finish in 2023 to back-to-back fourth-place finishes and a national runner-up result in 2025–26.
Before William Penn, Wilcke spent one season at Iowa Wesleyan, where he led the women's team to a seventh-place finish at the 2023 NAIA National Championships.
Across his coaching career, Wilcke has helped develop 44 national qualifiers, 23 All-Americans, and 10 national champions. He brings extensive experience in program operations, including scheduling, budgeting, travel coordination, recruiting, and alumni relations.
A native of Battle Creek, Iowa, Wilcke competed at the University of Iowa from 2015 to 2020, qualifying for the NCAA Championships three times for the Hawkeyes.
He holds a bachelor's degree in sport and recreation management from the University of Iowa and a master's degree in athletic administration from Iowa Wesleyan University.
