McNeil commits to Michigan
Lachlan McNeil is moving from the ACC to the Big Ten.
McNeil, a three-time All-American, announced on Tuesday that he is transferring from North Carolina to Michigan. He is a graduate transfer. McNeil becomes the second All-American Michigan has added via the transfer portal this offseason, joining All-American heavyweight Taye Ghadiali, a transfer from Campbell.
A native of Toronto, Canada, McNeil has placed in the top six at the NCAAs in each of the last three seasons. He placed fourth at the NCAAs in 2023 at 141 pounds and sixth the following year in the same weight class. McNeil moved up to 149 pounds this past season and placed fifth at the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia. He became the sixth Tar Heel wrestler to earn three or more All-America honors.
