NCAA champion Ferrari commits to CSU Bakersfield

A.J. Ferrari is returning to college wrestling and has a new home.

Ferrari, a 2021 NCAA champion for Oklahoma State, announced on Friday that he committed to CSU Bakersfield.

Ferrari was training in Iowa City last year, alongside his brother Anthony, and was expected to join the Hawkeyes, but his plans changed after he competed at the Soldier Salute, losing by default to Iowa wrestler Zach Glazier in the finals at 197 pounds.

He won the NCAA title at 197 pounds as a freshman at Oklahoma State in 2021, finishing the season with a record of 20-1. The following season he was undefeated and ranked No. 1 before sustaining an injury in an automobile accident in late January, which ended his season.
