All-American Turley returning to Rutgers for 2024-25 season

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Jackson Turley (174) will return to Rutgers wrestling to use his final season of eligibility in 2024-25. A three-time NCAA qualifier and 2021 All-American, Turley is regarded as one of the top wrestlers in his weight class heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

Turley is one of four All-Americans returning for the Scarlet Knights this season, joining John Poznanski (197), Dylan Shawver (133) and Yaraslau Slavikouski (HWT).

The Chester, Virginia, native recorded 16 wins last season, which included an 11-4 dual record, 6-2 mark in Big Ten dual action and 47 team points. Turley pinned five opponents and registered eight wins by bonus. At the 2024 Big Ten Championships, Turley wrestled to a fourth-place finish as the No. 6 seed, earning four wins en route to the second Big Ten podium finish of his career. Turley capped his season with his third-career trip to nationals.

Tuley has posted 51 career victories and has qualified for the NCAA Championships three times during his time "On the Banks." Turley wrestled back with four consecutive wins at the 2021 NCAA Championships in St. Louis to finish eighth for the first All-America laurel of this career. Turley is also a two-time Big Ten Championships place winner, finishing seventh at the conference tournament in 2023.

Rutgers finished No. 14 in the final NWCA Coaches Poll last season and produced multiple All-Americans for the eighth time in nine seasons under head coach Scott Goodale. Shawver and Slavikouski finished seventh in their respective weight classes at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships – the 10th time in 11 years Rutgers has produced at least one All-American. Eight Scarlet Knights qualified for nationals, the most since all 10 starters qualified in 2016. RU also finished sixth at the 2024 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, which included an individual title from Shawver, seven conference place winners and 87.5 team points - its best team result since 2016.

Rutgers finished 12-5 during the dual season and earned a final No. 14 ranking in the NWCA Coaches Poll - its 12th top-25 finish in the poll under Goodale. The Scarlet Knights once again finished in the top six in national home attendance as it averaged more than 4,000 per home dual in 2023-24. Twelve student-athletes earned Winter Academic All-Big Ten recognition, while three individuals – Poznanski, Slavikouski and Anthony White - were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans.

On the recruiting trail, RU signed the No. 4 overall recruiting class in the country, according to Intermat's final rankings released earlier this summer. It marks the highest-rated rookie class under Goodale since he and his staff inked the No. 4 overall class during the 2007-08 cycle.
