Gifford named first head coach of Onondaga CC men's, women's wrestling programs

Onondaga Community College is proud to announce the first ever head of the men's and women's wrestling programs, Zachary Gifford.

"'I'm excited to welcome Zach as OCC's first ever Head Wrestling Coach. There has been a lot of positive energy within the wrestling community since our announcement to add men's and women's wrestling to our sport sponsorship, and Zach is the right person to harness that energy and get our programs operating, competing, and winning. I look forward to working with Coach Gifford." Athletic Director, Mike Borsz.

Gifford is a native of Deposit, NY and attended SUNY Cortland where he was a participant of the Wresting program from 2016-2019. He was featured as Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Rookie of the Week in his Freshman season and recieved the 'Outstanding Rookie' Award. He has contributed his knowledge to the JD-CBA Wrestling programs since 2023. Gifford is looking forward to bringing his leadership to Onondaga's first ever wrestling programs:

"I am thrilled to be joining OCC's athletic department and look forward to helping grow the sport that molded me into the person I am today. I believe we have a chance to offer a great wrestling program that will hopefully further develop student-athletes into the resilient and independent young people the work force and world needs them to be. I am looking forward to the months and years to come of building it!"
