Saldate transferring from Michigan State to Michigan
Chase Saldate has a new home for his final season of college wrestling but will be staying in the state of Michigan.
Saldate, a four-time NCAA qualifier for Michigan State at 157 pounds, announced on Friday that he will be transferring to the University of Michigan as a graduate transfer.
He was one of the nation's top recruits in the Class of 2020 competing at Gilroy High School in California for Daniel Cormier, a two-time Olympian and UFC champion.
"I'm excited to announce my commitment to the University of Michigan," wrote Saldate. "Thank you to everyone at Michigan State University it was a great 4 years. I'm excited for this next chapter of chasing my dreams."
Saldate finished this past season with a record of 25-8 and went 0-2 at the NCAAs. He recached the round of 12 in 2023.
He has a large social media following, with over 122,000 Instagram followers.
