Sandusky, Ohio -- Alvernia University (7-1) went a perfect 5-0 at the Kalahari Duals in men's wrestling dual action Saturday afternoon at Heidelberg.

In the first NWCA Dual Team Rankings, Alvernia was ranked 12th in the country.

Alvernia started the day facing off against Washington and Jefferson and recorded a 48-5 victory over the Presidents. Keito Shaw started things off with a pin in the first 40 seconds of the match and Avery Leonard, Jason Rezac, Matthew Lackman, James Circle and Mauro Pellot-Vazquez all recorded pins over their opponents. Ethan Staples, Quinn Tobin, and Isaac Kassis all recorded major decisions in their respective matches.

The Golden Wolves took on Alma next and posted a 34-14 victory over the Scots. Brandon Flores-Salazar and Myles Brown both pinned their opponents and Garrett Gehr, Chance Babb and Gavin Hollingsworth all recorded tech falls in their matches. Ryan LePore tallied a 15-3 major decision in his match and Aiden Homan won his match by an 8-5 decision.

Alvernia's third match of the day came against Loras who is currently ranked #16th in the nation in the NWCA Dual Team rankings. Alvernia took down the Duhawks by a score of 35-8. Rezac and Brain Czaus both tallied pins, Kassis and Pellot-Vazquez won by tech falls and Shaw tallied a 14-3 major decision. Anthony Portillo and Tobin tallied wins by decision and #1 ranked Lackman took down #5 ranked 165 pounder Dustin Bohren by a score of 3-0.

The Golden Wolves then recorded a 35-16 victory over hosts Heidelberg. Shaw, Leonard, and Lackman all recorded tech falls in their matches and Flores-Salazar and Mauro Pellot-Vazquez both tallied pins in their matches. Kassis and Chance Babb both recorded major decisions with 15-6 and 14-0 victories, respectively.

The Golden Wolves finished up the day with a 52-0 shutout of Mount St. Joseph in their fifth dual of the day. Robert Philpot recorded a 19-3 tech fall in the opening bout, Gehr, Tobin and Lackman all recorded pins and Pellot, Kassis, Circle and LePore all tallied tech falls in their bouts. Czaus secured the shutout victory with a 8-5 sudden victory in the final bout of the day.
