Coe handles Central in first dual of 2023-24

PELLA, Iowa -- The No. 15 Coe College wrestling team picked up an easy victory in its first dual meet of the year, defeating Central College 32-13 in an American Rivers Conference dual on Thursday evening. Cade Hornback opened the match with a narrow victory at 125, securing a 12-9 decision to put Coe up 3-0. Dresden Grimm put the next points on the board for the Kohawks at 141, securing a fall over 12th-ranked Pierre Baldwin in the second period. Kael Scranton, Will Esmoil, LJ Richardson and Jared Voss later made it four straight wins for the Kohawks, securing victories at 157, 165, 174 and 184 to put the match away. Scranton and Richardson earned bonus points during the streak with major decisions while Esmoil was the second Kohawk to record a pin in the match. Damari Dancy closed the match with the team's third pin of the contest, handling his opponent in just 42 seconds at 285.
