The Open Mat NAIA Women's Coach of the Year: Gabrielle Weyhrich (Southern Oregon)

It's difficult to overstate how well Gabrielle Weyhrich did in her first season as Southern Oregon's head women's wrestling coach. Weyhrich was hired to lead SOU in May of 2022 after serving as an assistant at McKendree, where she helped guide the program to three national championships. What Weyhrich accomplished in her first season leading the Raiders is nothing short of amazing. Southern Oregon captured a title at the NWCA National Duals, knocking off top-ranked Grand View in the finals. SOU finished the regular season undefeated in dual meets at 8-0. The Raiders then won their first-ever Cascade Conference Championships title, finishing 10 points ahead of the back-to-back returning champion Menlo. Southern Oregon entered the national tournament ranked No. 3 but left no doubt they were the top team by winning the tournament by 20.5 points. Carolina Moreno (123), Emily Se (143) and Grace Kristoff (191) won individual national titles for Southern Oregon. Seven SOU wrestlers earned All-America honors.
